Fans of George RR Martin and the Iron Throne can rest easy as House of the Dragon has been renewed for a second season.
The House of the Dragon premiered on Sunday, August 21 with the largest audience for a new original series in HBO history, which is why its renewal for a second season was confirmed today.
Don’t stop reading: Why is the Iron Throne different in House of the Dragon?
Based on the Fire and Blood story, the series -set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones- tells the story of the Targaryen House, which was the house that ruled the longest, giving life to the Iron Throne and conquering the 7 kingdoms. In addition to their purity and the lineage that highlights this emblematic family, their dragons were the main source of their power and the ones that allowed them to take over the throne.
Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn- Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes and Savannah Steyn are among the incredible cast that is part of the first season.
“We are beyond proud of what the entire La Casa del Dragón team has accomplished with the first season. Our phenomenal cast and crew have risen to the challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a series that has already established itself as must-watch television. Many thanks to George, Ryan and Miguel for guiding us on this journey. We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing the epic House Targaryen saga to life with season two,” said Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming for HBO.
