Final seasons are always hard to take, especially if we are talking about one of the best series that is currently broadcast, especially if we are talking about the judicial genre. This is the case of ‘The Good Fight’, whose sixth and final season starts today on Movistar Plus +, simultaneously with its broadcast on Paramount +.
It’s been a little over a year since we last saw Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), Liz Reddick (Audra MacDonald) and company and we find a “renewed” signature with changes both in the offices and high spheres as well as among the “low” associates. This includes the arrival of a nominal new partner, the flashy Ri’Chard Lane (Andre Braugher).
This is a nice addition to a cocktail that already lasts yes, it already enhances the palpable tension between the different partners (and other workers) of the firm. Something that does not take long to notice practically from the beginning with how the protagonists are handling the (delicate) cases. But these quarrels are part of the theme of this ten episodes, as a reflection of the state of tension and polarity in society.
civil war road 2
We must also remember that although it has its status as a spin-off, It is a series that was born in the trumpism and that it is quite rooted in the political climate. Thus, Robert and Michelle King propose to lead us by the hand through a climate of prolegomena to the “second civil war”, with constant disturbances in the street and threats with grenades engraved with a date: the November 10when the final episode of the series will air.
Here the writers still have Diane as her official barometer. One who, at this point in life and seeing the anxiety (and feeling of deja vu constant) that produces everything for him, he prefers to alienate himself with a plot that leads us to meet an apparent new romantic interest (or at least one with a lot of chemistry) played by John Slattery.
This does not mean that we do not have cases with the political and social burden in which ‘The Good Fight’ has specialized. Not in vain the firm is dedicated to that… sometimes on the “wrong” side (or, at least, in which they do not like to fall). In fact, I would dare to say that this season there is even more of a dichotomy in the protagonists.
Closing more than a decade of history
It is also seen, as a tribute and reward for fans at least in the first half of the season, the intention to recover some of the great characters in the universe of ‘The Good Wife’ (there we have the Alan Cumming Eli Gold). Although it is not clear that it will finally come out Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) although they do name her, it is always a joy to see these characters.
Cameos aside, and although there are times (and subplots) that have a bit more of a broad brush and a certain caricature than usual, the final season of ‘The Good fight’ is being a farewell in style. We find some delicious episodes that make us enjoy from start to finish with their interesting cases.
