Spain is a country with a geography rich in charming villages. Either in the format of white or medieval towns. However, choosing which one is the prettiest, the quietest, or simply the best is an impossible task since that depends on the criteria and tastes of each one. What is possible to quantify is whether they are small, both in terms of their number of inhabitants and their area. And it is that, applying this criterion, we can select which are those that, like the best perfumes, come in a small bottle. Perfect to see in a single day or a few hours.
Maceira Bridge

With just over 60 inhabitants, located in the parish of Portor and belonging to the Negreira town hall in A Coruña, is Ponte Maceira. The river Tambre passes through there, one of the most important in Galicia. Its great Romanesque bridge stands out, which crosses it, built in the 13th century taking advantage of the pillars of another previous Roman. This place is an obligatory stop on the Camino marítimo de Santiago.
Barcena Mayor

It is the only population center included in the Saja Besaya Natural Park. It is located in a small plain of the Argoza river, at the foot of the mountains of the Cantabrian divide. It stands out for its traditional architecture and the clarity of its limits, which make it a very compact nucleus in which space is used to the maximum. The most characteristic type of house in the village is the mountain house of rural habitat. The church of Santa Maria (from the 17th century) and the old rectory houses, the mountain mansions, are a must.
bagergue

It is the highest town in the Val d’Aran, located at 1419m. It has the charm of a typical mountain village with stone houses with slate roofs and wooden balconies. Here, every season of the year has its splendor: abundant snow in winter, meadows covered with flowers in spring, vivid summers and a festival of colors in autumn. In addition, it has the same hours of sunshine in summer and winter. Some of the most outstanding corners of the town are: Casa Menginat, Casa es de Pansart, the church of Sant Fèlix from the 12th century, the highest Cheese Factory in the Pyrenees and the Eth Corrau Museum.
Gata Robble

Located in the Sierra de Gata, this town in Extremadura is boxed in semi-hidden between terraces, in the Valle del Árrago. It is an authentic place with a lot of personality in which the population does not reach 100 inhabitants. Its architecture is characterized by the use of materials such as slate, wood and clay, which has earned it the declaration of Historic Set. One of the most interesting monuments in this town is the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, dating from the 16th century, a must for visitors.
Puertomingalvo

Couldn’t be missing from the list. a picturesque medieval town like this. It has a Castle from the 11th century, a Baroque Church from the 18th century and the Town Hall from the 14th century. In addition, the houses are uniformly maintained in the medieval style, including narrow streets. However, it is also characterized as a very quiet and relaxing place.
