Almost seventy years have passed sinceGodzilla‘ was released in Japan on November 3, 1954, which is fast, right? So being of celebrations has been the perfect time for Toho to confirm its future plans and confirm that there is already a new movie in the franchise in the works.
A mysterious teaser, but with a fixed date
There are still not too many details about the new ‘Godzilla’, only that it will again be produced by Toho and that it will feature Takahashi Yamazaki as director. Yamazaki has previously directed ‘Stand by Me Doraemon 3’ and ‘Lupine III: The First’, one of the most solid films about the white-collar thief.
This will be the first movie in the series produced in Japan since Hideaki Anno’s ‘Shin Godzilla’ which was released in 2016, and it still seems too early to tell if it will be a sequel or if they will be connected in some way.

Yamazaki’s film is planned to open in Japan on November 3, 2023, and taking into account that there is still a whole year ahead, for now we will have to settle for the small poster with which they have confirmed their release date.
Meanwhile, the kaiju franchise continues to grow with Legendary’s MonsterVerse, left us nothing and less the spectacular ‘Godzilla vs. Kong ‘and that already has a television series underway for Apple TV +. So with everything still going on, it’s the perfect time for Toho to bring out the artillery and celebrate Godzilla’s birthday in style.
