Things looked pretty bad (and not just because of Paramount’s disastrous financial results) and it has finally been confirmed. After the departure of Kevin Costner, the production company has announced that ‘Yellowstone’ will end after the broadcast of the second half of season 5.
But this does not mean that it is the end of the western franchise since Taylor Sheridan is already working on a spin-offwhich will serve as a sequel and would be starring, if the negotiations go ahead, by none other than Matthew McConaughey and would be released in December.
Matthew McConaughey in the future of ‘Yellowstone’
At the moment nothing more is known about this new project, in which a large part of the cast of the original series is expected to also participate. We must also remember that we are aware of ‘6666‘, another of the spin-offs that were announced a couple of years ago and that nothing has been heard from again.
The end of ‘Yellowstone’ has a release date planned for November, with the second half of season 5 shooting this August. However, the writers’ strike has complicated everything since it is not known if they were still in the writing process.
This adds to the uncertainty surrounding how this departure of Kevin Costner from the series will be handled. plot level or even if it will appear in these last episodes. A march that comes after weeks (if not months) of alleged fights, and scheduling conflicts between the actor and Sheridan, which would have finally led to this “divorce.”
