Little by little the fifth season of ‘Stranger Things’ and the end of the series are getting closer and closer, or at least the story of Eleven, Mike, Will and the town of Hawkins. Even so, the universe of the Duffer brothers still has a lot to give and explore, and in addition to the prequel that is already underway, now it is time for an animation spin-off.
Another eighties dream come true
The rumors had been around for a long time, and in the end Ross and Matt Duffer have finished confirmed that indeed the ‘Stranger Things’ animated series It has been approved. They have not yet released any pledge on the project, but it has been possible to confirm that Flying Bark Productions will be in charge of the animation.
The Australian studio has recently been working on ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur‘ and ‘What If…?’ for Marvel, so we could still expect a similar style and not the ‘Stranger Things’ anime that had been rumored. Eric Roblescreator of “Glitch Techs” for Netflix and Nickelodeon, will executive produce the series, so it’s all a bit at home on this front.
“We’ve always dreamed of a ‘Stranger Things’ animation in the style of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up with and love. Seeing this dream come true is so exciting,” the Duffers have said. “We couldn’t be more excited about what Eric Robles and his team have come up with. The scripts and art are amazing. We can’t wait to share it all with you! The adventure continues.”
For now, no more is known about the plot of the animated series of ‘Stranger Things’ nor when we will be able to see it, we have to wait and see if it goes ahead before Netflix goes with the loose scissors and cancels it prematurely. Although ‘Stranger Things’ is still the goose that lays her golden eggs and it doesn’t look like they’re going to want to let her escape soon.
