The death of Kevin O’Neill, the iconic British cartoonist collaborating with Alan Moore in works such as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, is reported.

O’Neill began working for the International Publishing Company (IPC) as a teenager as a clerk, and later as an illustrator of children’s works. However, upon learning that IPC was going to launch an anthology of science fiction comics, 2000 AD, he asked to be transferred to the new project, illustrating the first cover of the legendary magazine.
In 1977 he illustrated Judge Dredd Summer Special and in 1978, with writer Pat Mills, they took Ro-Busters to 2000 AD, originally created for Starlord magazine. In 2000 AD it developed blockbuster series like ABC Warriors and Nemesis The Warlock.

Later he worked in the United States as part of the British wave led by Alan Moore. In America, again with Pat Mills they collaborated on Marshall Law for Epic Comics. At DC she began her collaboration with Alan Moore on the Omega Men series, and in 1986 repeated as the creative team for the Green Lantern Corps Annual.
In 1999, Alan Moore launched the America’s Best Comics line at Wildstorm Studios for Image. There they created his best-known work: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Later he worked almost exclusively for this series and its spin-offs, although he recently worked with Garth Ennis.
