Welcome to Vertigo
On January 13, 1993, under the leadership of Karen Berger, DC Comics launched the Vertigo Comics imprint, which would publish stories aimed at a more mature audience.
Under the Vertigo label, DC Comics promoted the publication of stories that addressed themes such as fantasy, drama, horror, and mystery.
These stories were joined by authors and illustrators such as Sean Murphy, Tom King, Scott Snyder, Garth Ennis, Steve Dillon, Brian Azarello, Eduardo Risso, Bill Willingham, Jason Aaron, and more creatives who added their talents to the Vertigo catalog.
Vertigo dominated the scene with titles such as Preacher, American Vampire, 100 Bullets, Fables, Hellblazer, Promethea, Transmetropolitan and several more that became cult titles.
Over time the name of Vertigo evolved, first to DC Vertigo, and now this label comes with DC Black Label.
