Warner Bros. Discovery has officially canceled plans to release ‘Batgirl,’ but it wasn’t the only victim of the recent tweaks. The sequel to ‘Scooby!’ has suffered the same fate. But it seems that ‘Scoob!: Holiday Haunt,’ the sequel to the 2020 animated movie isn’t done with the job yet. Producer Tony Cervone, who directed the first, revealed that the production is still recording the film’s score, despite the official cancellation.
The musicians and the studio were already paid
The weekend, Cervone shared a photo of his team on Instagram working in a recording studio:
“So what do you do when the movie is cancelled, but you already paid for the studio and the musicians? You record the damn music!”
While recording a score for a movie that won’t be released isn’t exactly common practice, canceling a movie after most of its production has already been completed, as was the case with ‘Scoob!: Holiday Haunt,’ is also not very normal, so this fact is, in its own way, a way of paying homage to the work of the musicianscomposers and involved in the film.
Hollywood was shaken when Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that “Scoob!: Holiday Haunt” and “Batgirl” (a film adaptation of the DC Comics universe) would no longer be released, neither in theaters nor on HBO Max. both productions they were conceived as original programming for the platform and cannot be monetized to recover something in taxes. However, perhaps the soundtrack could be released for free without monetization.
