‘Creed III’ may have brought the trilogy to a close, but there is still more combat to come as it finishes its release in some territories and the ‘Rocky’ spin-offs arrive. The movie of Michael B Jordan lands right now in Japan and knowing what an anime fan he is, it’s quite possible that he’s as a child in a candy store (and merchandising)… but it’s also obviously the perfect place to reveal more about the anime of ‘Creed’.
Comes with a (very) limited release
It was already confirmed a few weeks ago that there was an anime of ‘Creed’ underway along with other projects to continue expanding the franchise And the truth is that after Jordan sneaked references to ‘Naruto’ and ‘Dragon Ball’ in his movie, the anime could not be long in coming.
This week Jordan has confirmed that for the premiere of ‘Creed III’ in Japan they have produced a special anime developed from TMS Animation. After ‘Megalobox’, I Moriyama He is once again collaborating as director with Katsuhiko Manabe and Kensaku Kojima, who have scripted the anime.
He has already left us a promotional poster, and apparently the anime can be seen in theaters after the movie from May 26. So if we’re not going to see ‘Creed III’ (or ‘Creed Kako no Gyakushū’) in Japan, there doesn’t seem to be any way to see it for now.
Let’s hope that even later it will reach streaming or as extras to the physical edition… Perhaps this “post-credits” is a small test or a preview with TMS and the creative team to see how ‘Creed’ works as an anime, but Hopefully the rumors are true and we have an animated version in sight that we can watch without having to catch a plane.
