Do you remember the first episode of ‘Rick and Morty’ that you saw, and how you thought “This is great, I hope it lasts much longer”? Well then the monkey paw bent a finger. And it is that, despite the fact that the repercussion, at least social, of the series is minimal (and probably merchandising), we must not forget that Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland signed a contract to make 70 new episodes on Adult Swim… And that the series seems to have a reel for a while. It may potentially never end, in fact.
Wubba lubba dub dub!
When the duo appeared on ‘Space Jam: New Legends’, many of us already imagined that their thug and countercultural character was being tamed and taken advantage of by the mainstream. Now, its creators, who have always defended that they will release new episodes when they have the necessary quality, have claimed that the series may literally last forever.
There are elements that can only happen once, like the revelations about Rick and things like that, but I think the adventures can go on for 1000 episodes.
During an interview with TheWrap, both Roiland and Harmon, who present the sixth season of the series which will premiere this Monday on HBO Max. “It could last forever…as long as we wanted… we could make it last until season 20 if we wanted, I would like the chain and the fans would like it.” At the moment, both promise one season a year, as much as Harmon does not understand how it is possible that they are fulfilling.
Though The drop in popularity of ‘Rick and Morty’ is obviousstill has enough fans to last for a few more years. Forever? Well, it sounds as real as the ‘Community’ movie.
