The German who drove for Aston Martin had announced his decision to retire from Formula 1 last July, news that surprised the world.
When finishing the Abu Dhabi Grand PrixVettel offered a few words of farewell, in which he claims to be happy with the race he had.
“I would have liked to get more points in this race, but I enjoyed it (…) there are many flags, many smiles. I sure will miss them more than I can understand right now.”
“I believe that the last few years have perhaps been disappointing from a sporting point of viewbut very useful and important personally”, he points out.
Vettel, who made his debut 15 years ago, had previously revealed that although he loves F1, he is retiring because as a father he wants to spend more time with his family, remarking that being a driver was never his only identity.
This Sunday Sebastian closed the 2022 season in tenth position at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“Thank you for all the love, it is something we will miss. The career I had has filled me with happiness”.
