Although we are left without having season 3 of ‘Mindhunter’, serial killers continue to have a rope for a while in fiction. ‘The Boston Strangler’ is the new mystery thriller based on a true case, starring Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon, which Coming to Disney+ on March 17.
Boston Murders
Hulu has shared the first trailer for ‘The Boston Strangler’, the film that adapts the real case in which several single women were killed in Boston, between 1962 and 1964.
The film is created by Matt Ruskin (‘Crown Heights’) and stars Keira Knightley (‘Pride and Prejudice’) and Carrie Coon (‘The Leftovers’), who give life to two reporters from the Record-American newspaper who discover the relationship between the different crimes and they begin to investigate to bring to light the truth.
The creator has stated that It will be the first project to deal in depth with the story of the Boston Strangler.since according to him the 1968 film of the same name, directed by Richard Fleischer and starring Tony Curtis, focuses too much on the police and “everything goes according to plan”:
Growing up in Boston, I’ve been hearing about the Boston Strangler all my life. But it wasn’t until a few years ago that I started reading about it and realized that I didn’t know anything about the actual case. I discovered this incredibly complex mystery, full of unexpected twists and turns, as much about the city and the time as it was about the identity of this serial killer.
Unlike the Tony Curtis film, Ruskin decided to focus the action on two journalists and he is very happy with the work done by the actresses: Knightley plays Loretta McLaughling, based on the real reporter who discovered the murders, and Coon puts himself in the shoes of Jean Cole, his invaluable companion.
In the US, Hulu is the platform that premieres the film, while in Spain it will arrive through Disney+ on March 17.
