With the adrenaline rush that the premiere of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ gave us just seven days ago, the last week seems to have passed in the blink of an eye. But, if we look at the positive side of this, it means that we can now bring to our retinas a new dose of cinematographic novelties that this June 3 arrive crowned by the great multiversal madness of the year. Let’s review them!
The premieres of June 3, 2022
‘Everything at once everywhere’ (‘Everything Everywhere All at Once, 2022)
-
It is the second film from Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, better known as the Daniels, and follows their self-described “fart drama” ‘Swiss Army Man.’
-
The film marks the first major role for Ke Huy Quan ?the legendary Stopper from ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ or Data from ‘The Goonies’? in about 20 years.
-
All the VFX for the film was done by a team of 9 people, including the two directors. Also, none of its members have training in visual effects beyond online tutorials.
-
Before the insane plot of the film was revealed, the synopsis circulating on the internet was limited to a terse “A woman tries to file her taxes.” This is how secrets are kept.
-
The film has become one of the great independent phenomena of the year, having grossed almost 58 million dollars in the United States and another 10 in its international tour so far.
-
It is the new production of the prestigious A24 studio, which distributed the Daniels’ first film and has now been encouraged to carry their new project on their shoulders.
Criticism in Espinof: ‘Everything at once everywhere’ is the movie of the year: the true multiverse of madness is at the masterful existential crossroads of A24
‘Live is Life. The great adventure’ (2021)
-
‘Live is Life’ is the new film by Dani de la Torre, who changes scenery after having directed the commendable thrillers ‘The Shadow of the Law’ and ‘The Unknown’.
-
On this occasion, de la Torre elaborates a story about friendship set in the eighties, underpinned by nostalgia and with an air of the fantastic adaptation of Stephen King ‘Count on me’.
-
The film’s script is in charge of Albert Espinosa, responsible for the scripts of ‘Heroes’, ‘Your life in 65” or ‘Red Bracelets’.
‘Claw’ (‘Hustle’, 2022)
-
It’s the new movie starring Adam Sandler, who gets serious again after his extraordinary role in the equally amazing ‘Diamonds in the Rough’.
-
The cast of the feature film is completed by names such as Ben Foster or Robert Duvall.
-
Next to them is Juancho Hernangómez, the Madrid player at the service of the Utah Jazz.
-
It is directed by Jeremiah Zagar, who made his feature film debut with the celebrated ‘We the animals’.
-
The film underwent a rewriting process at the request of Netflix that radically changed its setting, going from being set in China to being set in Mallorca.
-
‘Garra’ reaches Spanish cinemas on a limited basis before its release on Netflix on June 8.
Plus…
‘Without you I can’t’ (2022)
