You may have missed them or it may be that, on the contrary, these weeks without them swarming through theaters have been a strange relief, but with the new round of billboard premieres arriving this Friday, October 21superheroes —or antiheroes in this case— will once again flood our screens with their capes, their masks and their powers.
But don’t worry, because if comic adaptations aren’t your thing, the offer is juicy enough to satisfy your needswith whodunnits, family cinema and a good handful of other surprises that we will go over next.
The premieres of October 21, 2022
‘Black Adam’ (2022)
- ‘Black Adam’ is the 11th movie of the DC Extended Universe -or what remains of it-, and has been a dream project for about 15 years by Dwayne Johnson.
- It is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the Catalan based in Los Angeles known for his fantastic thrillers starring Liam Neeson, who was a candidate to play Dr. Fate.
- The film was originally rated R due to the violence present in its original cut, but after a number of adjustments, the MPA decided to give it a rating PG-13, much smoother.
- In addition to the character that gives the film its title, ‘Black Adam’ has the presence of the JSA, represented by the aforementioned Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, Cylcone and Hawkman.
Criticism in Espinof: ‘Black Adam’: an entertaining antiheroic pastime that cannot (nor does it want to) go further
‘Lilo, my friend the crocodile’ (‘Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile’, 2022)
- ‘Lilo, my friend the crocodile’ is based on the children’s book written by Bernard Waber, originally published in 1965 and a sequel to ‘The House on East 88th Street’, which was published three years earlier.
- To shape his story, directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck, as well as screenwriter Will Davies, have used elements from both books.
- Its cast is led by Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy and Javier Bardem, and the leading digital crocodile is voiced by Shawn Mendes.
‘See How They Run’ (‘See How They Run’, 2022)
- ‘Look how they run’ is the new film by Tom George, known for being responsible for the series ‘This Country’ and ‘Defending the Guilty’.
- Its large cast has names like Adrien Brody, Saoirse Ronan, Sam Rockwell or David Oyelowo.
- The feature film promises a new approach to the Whodunnit subgenre with all the essence of Agatha Crhristie’s novels.
