We are among those who believe that music changes lives and that rock never dies, that’s why knowing the list of the first confirmed for the Azkena Rock Festival 2023 has made us want to travel north this summer, visit its beaches even if it rains and enjoy the best rock at this festival.
It has been held in Mendizabala, Vitoria, for years and in the 2022 edition, in which it celebrated its 20th anniversary, the Azkena Rock Festival saw the largest influx of family audiences and the numbers of campers were beaten according to data from the festival itself. 48,000 people experienced rock during the three days that the festival lasted.

In the summer of 2022 names like Patti Smith, Suzy Quatro. Michael Monroe or The Toy Boys gave it their all on stage and the 2023 edition that will be held on June 15, 16 and 17 already has the first confirmed starting with the legendary Iggy Pop, the American Lucinda Williams or Rancidone of the most important bands in the history of punk rock that premieres at this festival.
Steve Earle accompanied by his inseparable acoustic guitar, Melvins with their 90s rock, Calexico, Queensrÿche, Monster Magnet, El Drogas (Barricada’s artist who now performs solo), GWAR, Lucero, the Brazilians Os Mutantes, Brigade Loco, the legendary rockabillies British Matchbox, Pasadena and Bones of Minerva are the first confirmed for the new appointment in Mendizabala.
Tickets for those who have been to the festival before are on sale now. For the rest, they will be released on October 28 on the festival website with a price for the Gaztea Bonus of 100 euros.
