After 25 years, Ash Ketchum has the right to retire as a Pokémon trainer… or at least as the protagonist of the anime series. The World Champion is having a little farewell arc full of nostalgia, but it is by no means the end of the anime, which opens a new stage with new characters and a new region.
Welcome to Paldea
We already knew that Ash and Pikachu would take over to new protagonists, and new details and images have already been revealed about likothe Pokémon trainer that we will follow in the new anime.
The Pokémon Company is still keeping the details of the anime very well and not much is known about Liko, only that she is a teenager and that she possesses a mysterious pendant… which is said to end up being relevant to the anime’s plot.
Together with Liko we will also have Roy, the other new protagonist of the series. And as main Pokémon they will be Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly to help us explore the Paldea region from ‘Pokémon Scarlet and Purple’.
This new ‘Pokémon’ anime series starts in Japan next April 14th, within the spring season. For now, it has not been confirmed if we will be able to see it in simulcast on any platform, nor its duration. Until now, OLM has been in charge of the series and films of ‘Pokémon’ and a change of study has not been announcedso we can assume that they are also working on this new anime.
If it is successful, it could become another continuous anime with several seasons as happened with the original series that Ash starred in, or perhaps we will stay in a series limited only to the Paldea region. For now, we will have to see how the anime holds up without its two most iconic protagonists.
