Before the nervousness of Michael Keaton for the filming of Batman, who demonstrated his experience in the industry was Jack Nicholson, in an anecdote that the Knight’s interpreter recalled at a round table organized by The Hollywood Reporter.
“In the old days, I remember I was in London with Jack Nicholson, we were doing Batman and he was going somewhere and said, ‘Come with me,’” which is an experience in itself.”.
Keaton did not deny that the nerves about working with Tim Burton were latent, since his worst nightmare was that the film would become a flop.
“We’re in the car and he’s talking about the movie. And we all knew it was a big risk, and if it fails I’d be going down in flames and that’s going to be a big, tough comeback. But I also knew that if it worked, it could change my landscape.”.
The Joker knows more…
With all the wisdom that his Hollywood career gave him, Jack Nicholson had a few words to reassure Keaton, and make it clear that Batman would be an important point in his career.
“So Jack says, ‘Keats, if this is a hit, you can go out there and do four or five flops and not even worry about it.’ And maybe it wasn’t four or five, but you used to get away with three and it didn’t matter.”.
Batman became not only the movie of the year, it was also one of the events that marked several generations.
