‘Dragon Ball’ and ‘One Piece’ are undoubtedly the two great series of animeand whose films this summer have shown that no matter how many years go by they continue to attract millions of tireless fans.
So with two such massive series, it’s normal that from time to time we have small references where they come together, even for a brief moment.
krillin and the pirates
Well, from the outset both series are linked by mayumi tanaka, who doubles Krillin in ‘Dragon Ball’ and Monkey D. Luffy in ‘One Piece’. The legendary actress has been in charge of both characters for several decades, and in ‘Dragon Ball Super’ there was at the time a small nod to Tanaka’s work.
In a chapter of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ there is a moment when the cell phone rings Krillinand of course his ringtone is an instrumental version of ‘We Are’, the first opening theme of ‘One Piece’.

‘We Are’ is one of the most iconic songs of ‘one piece‘ and variations are still often heard in the series during specific moments, and a new opening theme was even made to commemorate the anime’s 1000th chapter.
It’s not the first time they come together ‘one piece‘ Y ‘dragon ball‘ in the anime, and in fact in 2013 there was even an animated special where Luffy and Goku appeared together.
It was in ‘Dream 9 Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z Super Collaboration Special’, a crossover for the third anniversary of the anime of ‘Toriko‘. Previously they also had a crossover in 2006 in the collaborative manga ‘Cross Epoch’.
