The year of losing streak in Telecinco audiences is translating into a series of continuous swerves, each one more incomprehensible. The last one has been to renew ‘Nightmare in El Paraíso’, his latest failure in terms of reality shows, but with celebrity couples as contestants.
Nightmare in reality
‘Nightmare in El Paraíso’ was Telecinco’s big bet for this season and it played practically from the beginning. Viewer numbers are falling far short of expectations and that has led the network to subject it to constant changes: exchanging broadcast days with The Island of Temptations, going from recorded galas to live galas several times, getting more contestants…
Nothing seems to have been enough to raise the audiences and, instead of trying to end its career as soon as possible, Mediaset has decided renew the format for another seasonaccording to verTele.
this new season will arrive in january, coinciding with the end of the previous one around the end of December, and will have celebrity couples as contestants. It will last about two months and will incorporate some changes in its mechanics, such as the program is in pairs.
The next installment of reality it will be live and the idea is to serve with a transition until the new season of ‘Survivors’. A questionable decision, to say the least, that beyond amortizing the stage already set for the program raises serious doubts about whether continue exploiting a format that is clearly failing and is not having the expected repercussion is the best option to come back.
‘Nightmare in Paradise’ broadcasts its main gala on Wednesdays at 10:00 pm, the debate on Sundays and its access prime time programs on Mondays and Tuesdays.
