What is a sasaeng? Obsessive fans who don’t respect idols’ privacy
In the world of K-Pop, there are some obsessive fans who receive the term sasaengs. These fans usually follow their idols outside of their work hours, they get information such as the flights they will take, the routes of their day to day and there are even cases that have entered their homes to install cameras. Many of them also sell the material they get from harassing idols.
There are several idols of k pop that have spoken out against sasaengs and some companies implement measures to protect their artists from this type of ‘fans’, but it is a growing problem, not only in South Korea, but also internationally.
