telecinco is now a shipwrecked man on a deserted island asking that this last coconut that he is going to eat please allow him to survive a few more months. Or put another way: if ‘Survivors 2023’ is not successful, it is time to rethink the entire short-term strategy. So far it has had its least spectacular start, both in audiences and in everything else: not very powerful casting, some little surprising surprises and, yes, some spectacular helicopter jumps. Go for it!
Jump with me, I say jump
I’m a big fan of international ‘Survivor’, whether it’s done in the US, Australia or South Africa: the mixture of intelligence, strategy, spectacularity in the tests, alliances and backstabbing is exciting and works like a shot. In all places except Spain, of course, where we cannot miss the opportunity to keep it live, keep the audience voting and that the most spectacular thing in three months is the start, where all the contestants jump out of the helicopters.
It is a good key moment, but in the end every year is the same, with small differences. In this case, the helicopter was higher than normal. There were those who hugged their husband’s pajamas (Patricia Donoso), who did so singing (Manuel Cortés, Raquel Bollo’s son), who had to overcome fear (Adara) and who has cried when remembering their loved ones ( Asraf, thinking of Isa Pantoja, his girlfriend). The fact is that they all ended up splashing and swimming towards the island, between dreams fulfilled and hopes that in the future this will bring them many gigs in discos.

What the twelve who went live did not expect was the surprise that the organization had prepared for them: no, I am not referring to the new presenter from Honduras, Laura Madrueño, who replaces Lara Álvarez. And it is that before leaving they had to nominate five people who would stay on land. But in the end, surprise of surprises, they were already competing in Tierra de Nadie. They are Sergio Garrido, Raquel Mosquera, Bosco, Raquel Arias and Artùr Dainese, living in harsh conditions and forming the first group of the night. But not everything has been bad for them.
A night with so many surprises
The five nominees will not jump out of the helicopter, but they have an extra advantage: not having shared the first hours with the rest of the team, they have been immune, ensuring another week. Joy and exhilaration. The first test, by the way, was of these five, the famous “mud test” (if something works, why use your imagination) in which they must search to find prizes with which to improve their quality of life. They got some shovels, a kit to make a cabin, a tarpaulin, a mat and cans of food. Now they can set up a bachelor pad.
Raquel Mosquera: “The first time I participated in Survivors I was a finalist and now I’m here to win.”

The other twelve contestants, who also participated in their particular mud test, They have been divided into two groups: the Royales and the Fatales, names they take from the beach where they have stayed. And with them, it is time to nominate, that you have to give bait quickly. Los Fatales nominated the king of snacks on TikTok (this year’s casting scratches the bottom of the barrel) Ginés, for little affinity, while the leader of the group, Katerina, did the same with Alma Bollo.
For his part, the Royales nominated Jaime Nava, because they have not gotten along, and Manuel Cortés, leader, did it with Diego. And we already have the three groups assembled and the mess begins. The leaders, in case you were curious, were the fastest to ring the bell for each group in the mud test. Nothing is thrown away here.
the resort
The fastest group has ended up living in Playa Royalwhere they live in luxury: mats, comfort, more fishing… The other, in Playa Fatal, where they will only have 50 grams of rice per day, less cans and a razor to get by as much as they can. As long as they don’t go nailing it in the inevitable anger, not so bad that we will go.
The contestants exiled in No Man’s Land will also live in deplorable conditions but at least they will have a cayuco to go fishing. And so we are! The public will have to choose, as always, the expelled on duty, while Telecinco continues to believe that it is better to hold a four-hour gala on a Thursday and wondering how they will do it in other countries to ride much more in just forty minutes a week.
Next week we will see the first expulsion, a new proof of immunity and, given the audience results, who knows if unexpected surprises on the part of the production company. I would count on it.
