Stan Lee’s cameos were a staple of Marvel movies and now he’s coming back despite being dead.
Until he passed away on November 12, 2018, Stan Lee had appeared in all the movies Marvel with small cameos. In fact, his last intervention was in Avengers: Endgame (2019) as the driver of a car. Now they have reached an agreement to be able to use his image in the new installments thanks to digital technology and archival material.
As just reported, Marvel has signed a 20-year contract with Genius Brands International and POW! Entertainment to essentially “resurrect” a Stan Lee.
“It really guarantees that Stan Lee, through digital technology and stock footage and other ways, will live in the most important place, the Marvel movies and the Disney theme parks.” Said Andy Heyward, Chairman and CEO of Genius Brands. “It’s a broad deal.”
“The audience revered Stan and if it’s done with taste and class, and with respect for who he was, it will be welcomed. He is a beloved personality and long after you and I are gone, he will continue to be the essence of Marvel.”
The agreement you have signed Marvel gives you permission to use the name, voice, likeness, and signature of Stan Lee in film and television projects, along with images, existing footage, and audio recordings.
This was already predicted The Simpsonsince in the episode of The Tree House of Terror XIXthey order Homer take down some celebrities so that their image can be used in advertisements and movies. Now that technology has advanced further and anyone’s face can be recreated, surely this will be more frequent.
All the movies of Marvel Cinematic Universe in which it appears Stan Lee can be seen in the Disney Plus streaming platform.
