Brief history of Spider-Man in Mexico
In the month of March 1963, Marvel published the first issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, and in Mexico this issue arrived on June 30, only three months after its publication in the United States.
This publication was from Editorial La Prensa, who introduced Spider-Man to several Spanish-speaking countries such as Argentina, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, and even reaching the Hispanic market in California and Florida.
This magazine began to be successful, so its circulation began to be biweekly, which caused problems since Marvel did not generate the material for a biweekly publication.
Editorial La Prensa made the decision to make its own stories, which were written and drawn by Jose Luis Durán.
In number 128 of this publication Peter Parker marries Gwen Stacy, something that ultimately turned out to be a dream.
The Amazing Spider-Man managed to publish more than 40 original stories created in Mexico, until the publication culminated in 1973, and the rights of the arachnid reached Novedades Editores.
