New song
On Tuesday, February 28, Karol G attended ‘El Hormiguero’ as a guest to present her new album ‘Mañana ser bonito’. The singer-songwriter is known within the musical world for reggaeton and Latin pop songs like ‘La Bichota’ or ‘Tusa’in addition to having won several Grammys.
In the program, Pablo Motos asked him about ‘TQG’, one of his last songs in which Shakira participated. Karol G recalled how both began looking for a song that they could sing together, although the first conversations ended up leaving the collaboration on hold:
Shakira wrote to me last year and sent me a song that I didn’t feel so connected to. When you make music you have to really feel it, making collaborations just to make it doesn’t make sense, I didn’t feel like I could contribute to that topic.
Time passed and upon learning of the personal situation that Shakira was going throughKarol G resumed contact and He proposed a new topic. They finished the song in October and Shakira asked him to wait a bit before releasing it, since she still had to upload the collaboration with Bizarrap.
I had a song that she could relate to, I showed her the song and she loved it. She told me that she really felt the lyrics, she even asked me to sing the second verse, which was the one with which she felt most identified. We worked on that song and it was all so special.
