How we like rural tourism, getting to know beautiful towns, charming towns, like something out of a story. For this reason, we wanted to find seven alternative dream places in Catalonia, seven locations that it is worth visiting and getting lost among its streets and together with its people.

We start with Castellar de N’Hug which in 1984 was awarded as one of the most beautiful towns in Spain and a tourist reference that we find in the Natural Park of “Cadí-Moixeró” 144 km from Barcelona.
It is one of the highest inhabited towns in Catalonia and, really, it seems to come out of a story, having a wide range of high-quality accommodation of all categories, active leisure, cultural, historical and industrial tourism, high mountain gastronomy , as well as natural spaces of great beauty, such as the sources of the Llobregat river or shows such as the Castellar de n’Hug Sheepdog Contest. Come on, a place that is very worthwhile.

We continue with bagergue, also considered one of the most beautiful towns in our country (in fact, since 2019 it belongs to the Association The most beautiful towns in Spain) and we find it in Alto Aran, the Naut Aran. With these data we already know that each time of the year has its magic thanks to the snow and its landscapes full of flowers when the weather is good.

Of course, we were not going to forget about Tivissa located in the Ribera de Ebro region and which has four population centers: Llaberia, La Sierra de Almos, Darmós and Tivissa, which gives its name to the municipality. The town of Tivissa is built on a hill, with ancient roots, which preserves its walled physiognomy with narrow, winding streets and which gives the impression that we are moving to another era, with stately houses loaded with coats of arms and centuries-old balconies.

Castellfollit de la Roca It is characterized by its narrow streets of the town that lead to the old church of Sant Salvador and, above all, because stands on a spectacular basaltic cliff 50 meters high and almost a kilometer long, cut by the Fluvià river. A unique place to relax and let yourself go.

In Beget, a small town belonging to the municipality of Camprodon, we find ourselves in a place full of magic and charm, where it seems that time has stopped since time immemorial. It is located between the Alta Garrotxa and the first slopes of the Pyrenees and we find from buildings stone medievalto narrow alleys, hundred-year-old squares and several Romanesque monuments worth visiting.

Rupit i Pruit It is a medieval town less than two hours from Barcelona that falls in love with its waterfalls, its beautiful stone houses and the particular path that must be traveled to reach its historic center.

and we end with Saint Paul, municipality of Gerona located in the very center of the natural park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrocha, between the municipalities of Olot and Mieras. The town preserves the enclosure of the old town, one of its medieval characteristics along with other outstanding points such as the Plaza Mayor or Firal dels Bous, the church of Santa María and all its narrow streets that lead to the Portal del Mar. A marvel.
