After a season, literally, absent, Damian Lewis has announced his return to ‘Billions’, the Showtime financial drama (which we can see on Movistar Plus+), for its 7th season. This was confirmed to Stephen Colbert on ‘The Late Show’ to the excitement of the audience.
Recall that Damian Lewis’ departure from the series occurred at the end of season 5, broadcast between 2020 and 2021, with his character Bobby Axelrod fleeing to Switzerland with practically all his fortune evaporated. In addition, between the first and second parts of the season, Helen McCrory, Lewis’s wife, died, leading to a time of rest and mourning for the actor.
Season 6 featured a new antagonist for the character of Paul Giamatti: Corey Stoll (whom we just saw as MODOK in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’) took on the role of Mike Prince, who took over Ax Capital in that finale of the fifth installment.
the master returns
Thus, we have the confirmed return of Axelrod for this season 7. Of course, it will be “only” in the middle of the season, with six confirmed episodes of the twelve that will compose it. Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey and Daniel Breaker They are still in the cast.
Managed by Brian Koppelman and David Levien as showrunners ‘Billions’ was renewed for this season 7 in February 2022. A year later we learned that Showtime was working on a whole universe of spin-offs that will take us through other dramas about millionaires who think that financial laws do not go with them : ‘Billions: Miami’, ‘Billions: London’, ‘Trillions’ and ‘Millions’.
