Henna has always been an object of interest in temporary tattoos in Eastern cultures. However, this skin dye can also be the alternative to many chemicals that we use on our hair. Does Lush have the best natural henna dye?
Twenty years after the invention of henna blocks, Lush has launched new hair dyes with higher coverage for more vibrant results.
To create these hennas, Lush has used different natural ingredients such as the highest quality Persian henna, cocoa butter and other selected ingredients to create five different shades.
Until a few years ago, henna had a bad reputation among professional hairdressers for allegedly being impossible to remove from the hair and causing unexpected effects. However, this was due to strong chemical dyes that also used these types of colorations. Luckily, Lush has created an all-natural, cruelty-free version.
natural henna dyes
Henna Lush is an organic and natural dye that works like a varnish on your natural hair, covering each strand in a wonderful color.
Using an herbal henna dye has many benefits. For example, each shade is unique; when the roots begin to grow, the color contrast is much more subtle than that of synthetic dyes; In addition, the hair acquires an extra protective layer, enhancing hydration and shine. In addition, it can not only be used on the hair of the head, but also can cover the gray hair of the beard.
Lush has five different shades, although it only relies on these natural ingredients:
- Red Henna: This is a plant native to the Middle East that has been used to color hair and decorate the body for thousands of years. It covers each hair like a varnish, thus adding an extra layer of protection and providing incredible shine.
- Indigo Herb: This is a plant-derived blue dye that has been combined with henna for thousands of years to create a range of brown and black colors.
- Hibiscus flower powder: it is made with the dried and ground petals of the hibiscus. It enhances the color of the henna, making the reddish tones more intense.
- Fresh Lemon Juice: The active pigment found in henna leaves reacts with citric acid to form a natural dye. Fresh lemon juice also adds shine to hair by smoothing the cuticle, allowing light to reflect better.
- Ground coffee: adds nuances to the color of the hair.
- Clove Oil: Clove oil is used in all Henna blocks for its stimulating effect on the scalp. It is antiseptic, stimulating and activates circulation.
Easy to use
These natural henna dyes are quite simple to use, although it is advisable to take precautions so as not to stain excessively:
- Break the henna into small pieces and place them in a container in a water bath.
- Add boiling water until it has the texture of melted chocolate.
- Protect the area of the hairline to avoid stains on the skin. As with chemical dyes, it is recommended to wear gloves.
- Apply once the mixture has cooled down and is at a comfortable temperature.
- We will keep the henna warm by leaving it in a water bath throughout the application.
- We will let it act for at least two hours.
- To remove it, we will put a little water on the hair and make circular movements on the scalp to remove the henna from the skin and hair. Rinse with plenty of water and wash as usual.
