New anime, but with controversy served
Despite the controversies that have arisen around its author Nobuhiro Watsuki for possession of child pornography, the fame of the mangaka and his work seems not to have gone badly in Japan and he is currently working on a new arc of Rurouni Kenshin along with his wife, Kaworu Kurosaki.
The first anime series based on the manga is already a few years old, but last year it was already confirmed that there was a new series in the works. There is still no specific release date, but it is known that it will be released sometime during 2023 and that it will adapt the entire manga in its entirety, with which it is expected to be more faithful to the source material and cover the entire story.
Hideyo Yamamoto will direct the new ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ anime for Liden Films, with Terumi Nishi as a character designer Hideyuki Kurata as head writer of the series. The first cast names have also been revealed, with Soma Saito voicing Kenshin Himura and Rie Takahashi voicing Kaoru Kamiya.
