Bryan Lezcano “Chan El Genio” and Kevin Mauricio Jiménez “Kevin ADG” are two successful Colombian producers for whom the time has come to stop being behind the curtain.
Chan and Kevin have already shown what they are capable of. A sample is “Felices los 4”, the controversial and very popular theme that Maluma interprets and that talks about situations of infidelity.
“Every producer has the dream of putting out an album of their own,” Chan said in a recent interview. “It was not a decision made overnight.”
This pair, who now calls themselves Rudeboyz -and who met about 15 years ago in their native Colombia-, is promoting their first song as an artist, “Ojalá”, which will be part of an album that will be released in the second half of 2023.
The artistic launch of these producers, however, had to make a lot of noise, and that is why they decided to invite their old friend Maluma, with whom they have worked on several occasions, even before he became the megastar he is today. .
Then they thought they wanted to invite someone else, but it had to be someone with whom Maluma had an affinity. Then the name of Adam Levine, the leader of the rock group Maroom 5, came up. They contacted his agent and days later they received the answer that Levine would participate in the song. This would then be the first time that Levine sings in Spanish, although it is a language that he does not speak.
“It fills us a lot and motivates us […] bridging cultures,” Kevin said.
The Rudeboyz plan now is to make hits for themselves like they have made for other artists. On their list of performers for whom they have produced are stars like Shakira, Arcángel, Yandel, Jennifer López, Prince Royce, Sebastián and Mau y Ricky.
The rest of the songs on Rudeboyz’s debut album will also feature guests, though Chan and Kevin preferred not to reveal that information. Upcoming singles will give an idea, they said.
Then, when they have enough material, they will start spinning.
“The goal is to make world number ones,” Chan said. “The truth, humbly, is the end of this project.”
