For years there has been talk of a fourth installment of the science fiction saga that began in the year 2000 with ‘Pitch Black’. Then would come ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ and ‘Riddick’, but the latter was released in 2013 and it began to seem unlikely that his adventures would continue. Well, at last the start-up of ‘Riddick 4’.
Everything on point
Vin Diesel will once again resume the character, while david twohywriter and director of the first three installments, also returns to shape ‘Riddick: Furya‘. Let’s remember that Riddick was the first character that Diesel agreed to play again, to the point that his return to the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga was motivated because in exchange he recovered the rights to it.
‘Riddick: Furya’ will tell us as its protagonist return to their home planet, which he barely remembers and is also worried that it has been devastated by the Necromongers. While there, Riddick discovers other locals who are fighting a new enemy and some of them have a lot more in common with Diesel’s character than he ever expected…
At the moment, a date for the start of filming has not been announced, but surely Diesel will have to do it before ‘Fast & Furious 11’. Everything indicates that it will be the last installment of this saga, so that later it will have more time for other projects like the one that concerns us now. What we do have are these statements from Twohy making it clear that they are ready:
Our legion of fans have been demanding it for years, and now we’re finally ready to honor their call to action with Riddick: Furya. My collaboration with Vin and production company One Race has spanned 20 fruitful years, as together we have created three feature films, two video games, an anime production, and animated comics for the web. This new big screen event will mark a return to Riddick’s home world, where we will finally explore his genesis.
