On July 21, the Puerto Rican authorities dismissed the accusations that Dennis Yadiel Sánchez, Ricky Martin’s nephew, would have made against the singer for alleged harassment.
Today, the Puerto Rican broke the silence and, through a video shared by the program’s Instagram account The fat and the skinnysent a message about how the lies harmed him and his loved ones.

With a downcast and serious face, Ricky Martin shared in the clip the damage that the accusations brought to his life. In addition, he explained the reasons why he was unable to defend himself earlier.
I have been working on stage for almost four decades, in the public eye and I have never, ever had to deal with something as painful as what I have experienced in the last two weeks. I was a victim of the lie. Unfortunately the attack came from a family member who is sadly dealing with mental issues, all I wish for him is the best and may he find the light.
Lying does a lot of damage, it did a lot of damage to me, to my children, to my husband, to my parents, to my whole family. I couldn’t defend myself before because there is a process that I had to follow. I was required to be silent, until I could unburden myself in front of a judge.
Finally, the singer thanked his fans and highlighted the importance of God in his life.
Today I have to heal because I am very, very hurt. Thank you very much to all the fans who always looked at me with love. There is a God who rewards those who focus and live in the truth.
