Perhaps one of the most missed characters in the brand new Marvel Cinematic Universe is Blade, the fearsome vampire slayer Half human, half bloodsucker, who already had his dalliance with the big screen in a highly recommended trilogy starring Wesley Snipes. But this void is in the process of being filled.
After Marvel Studios announced the landing of The Day Walker in the MCU about three years ago, the news about the —eventful, let’s say it all— production have been coming in little by little, but they are already enough to tell you about it. everything we know about ‘Blade’ while we wait for its release on September 6, 2024.

When is ‘Blade’ released?
Be careful, as expected, there is drama. Over three years ago, the folks at Marvel announced that ‘Blade’ would be getting its own feature film in the Marvel Universe. Although a specific date was not given, it was known that we would have to wait until Phase 4 finished, which at that time would close ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’; but Things have changed a lot since then.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ has ended up being the title in charge of shelving the first stage of the Multiverse Saga, whose second phase —fifth in total— would host the good old Blade the November 3, 2023 as announced at Comic-Con this year. But events, of which I will speak to you a little later, have delayed this date until the September 6, 2024. glups.
Cast and protagonists of ‘Blade’
To this day there are only three interpreters linked to this project, the first of them being Mahershala Ali; the winner of two Oscars for his work on ‘Green Book’ and ‘Moonlight’ and that he has been sounding like Blade since the first rumors about the feature film began to circulate —in fact, we can consider him the promoter of it.
In the cast, along with Ali, at the moment only the names of Delroy Lindo —’How to conquer Hollywood’, ‘Da 5 Bloods: brothers in arms’, ‘The core’— and Aaron Pierre —’The Underground Railroad’, ‘Time’, ‘Brother’— in two roles that, to this day, continue to be a mystery.
The director of ‘Blade’
This is where the sauce we were waiting for comes. In July 2021 we learned that ‘Blade’ had found its director in Bassam Tariq; a low-profile filmmaker associated with the independent scene and with no experience in the genre —as usual in Marvel’s modus operandi—known for his work on ‘Mogul Mowgli’ ‘Ghosts of Sugar Land’ and ‘These Birds Walk’.
Well, just over a year later —specifically in September 2022— the news broke that Tariq had decided to leave the project, leaving the seat of the head vacant. According to Marvel, the only reason for the shock has been a conflict of schedules due to the fluctuations of dates in the study:
“Due to constant changes in our production schedule, Bassam will not continue as director of ‘Blade,’ but will remain as executive producer on the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talents and all the work he has done to bring ‘Blade’ to the point where it is.”
But be careful, because, a dead king, a king set. As of November 22, 2022 ‘Blade’ has found its replacement to fill the director’s seatand that is none other than Yann Demangedirector of the fantastic ’71’, of episodes of series such as ‘Lovecraft Territory’ or ‘Hannah’s Secret Diary’ and of the five episodes of the magnificent zombie miniseries ‘Dead set: Death Live’,
The ‘Blade’ team
Although ‘Blade’ has just incorporated its new captain, there are already a good handful of members of the technical and artistic team on board the ship, starting with the script department. Until now, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, was in charge of outlining the script, but along with Demange, Marvel Studios has given the department a facelift by signing the scribe Michael Starrbury —’This is how they see us’— to shape a new script with a darker tone.
On the other hand, the direction of photography will be carried out by Damián García, who has just worked with Disney on the Star Wars series ‘Andor’and that he has works such as ‘I’m not here anymore’, ‘Güeros’ or ‘Wild Land’ on his list of credits.
The assembler will be Leigh Folsom Boyd, responsible for MCU titles such as ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, ‘Black Widow’ or ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and installments 6 and 7 of the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga; while ehe production design will be in the hands of Stefania Cellain charge of ‘Caballero Luna’, ‘Morbius’ or ‘La gran belleza’.
The story of ‘Blades’
For now No details have been released about the history of ‘Blade’Although it should be remembered that the character has already made an appearance in the MCU through a sound cameo. It was in ‘Eternals’, where he asks Kit Harington’s character if he thinks he’s ready to wield the Ebony sword. Will there be a crossover? Only time will tell.
Trailers, images and poster
‘Blade’ has just signed its director, so we can forget about having trailers, images or poster… For now I leave you with the official logo. Less gives a stone.
