Through an open letter, the Austrian team has exposed its position on the facts that violate the integrity of the most winning team of the 2022 season.
As a team we made some mistakes in Brazil
“As a team we made some mistakes in Brazil. We had not foreseen the situation that developed on the last lap and had not agreed on a strategy for such a scenario before the race,” the letter states.
“Unfortunately, Max was only informed in the final corner of the relinquishment request without all the necessary information being passed on. This put Max, who has always been an open and fair team player, in a compromising situation with little time to reactwhich was not our intention,” Red Bull said.
The conversation was a personal matter that will remain private between the team and no further comment will be made.
He added at the conclusion of the race in Interlagos, Max Verstappen had an open and honest dialogue, which allowed both drivers to resolve any issues or concerns.
“The team accepts Max’s reasoning, the conversation was a personal matter that will remain private between the team and no further comment will be made,” the statement said.
On the subject of offensive messages through social networks, he considered them unacceptable and an unnecessary situation.
“The abuse has to stop,” the letter states.
“The online abusive behavior towards Max, Checo, the team and their respective families is shocking and sad and sadly something that we as a sport have to address with depressing regularity.. There is no place for it in racing or in society as a whole and we have to do it and be better. At the end of the day, this is a sport, we are here to compete. The death threats, the hate mail, messages towards extended family members is deplorable,” Red Bull Racing said.
He concluded the message by noting that they value inclusion and seek a safe space for all people to work and enjoy Formula 1.
