Even Gunn himself shared on his social networks some of the titles that fans should read to keep up to date with Gods and Monsters.
We’re talked a lot about Woman of Tomorrow, but these are more of the comics inspiring #DCStudios and the new #DCU in these early days. That doesn’t mean we’re adapting all these comics, but that the feel, the look, or the tone of them are touchstones for our team. Check ’em out! pic.twitter.com/34KrVPeEL5

So that you know in advance the stories that will reach the DC Universe, we present some of the comics in which the new movies and series will be inspired. Remember that these titles can be obtained at the SMASH online store.
Waller / Justice League vs. Suicide Squad
One of the first projects that James Gunn has planned in the DC Universe is the live-action series of Waller, which will star Viola Davis, who will join forces with the Peacemaker team and some members of the Suicide Squad.
One of the major arcs this series could lead to is Justice League vs. Suicide Squad, an event from the Rebirth stage, where Amanda Waller has given Task Force X an important mission, to take down the Justice League.
Superman: Legacy / All-Star Superman
James Gunn prepares the return of Superman to the big screen in a film, which, although it will not be a story of the origins of the Man of Tomorrow, will deal with the way in which Clark Kent must learn his Kryptonian legacy, as well as his place in humanity.
A story that addresses the terrestrial side of Superman and his greatest weakness (which is not kryptonite), is All-Star Superman, a limited story of 12 chapters by Grant Morrison (in the script) and Frank Quitely (in the strokes) bring a bright new take on the Man of Steel mythology.
The Brave and the Bold / Batman and Son
The Brave and the Bold will be the film that presents the Dark Knight at this stage of the DC Universe. Batman and Robin will return to the big screen in a production inspired by one of the stories directed by Frank Morrison.
The mysterious Talia, Batman’s former lover and daughter of his archenemy Ra’s al Ghul, appears again in the life of the Dark Knight with a boy named Damian who is supposedly their son.
Lanterns / Green Lantern: Earth One
The mythology of the Green Lanterns Corps will finally reach the DC Universe, with the series that James Gunn defines as the space version of True Detective, one of the most successful police series on television today, and which can be inspired by Green Lantern: earth one
When Hal Jordan finds a powerful ring, he also finds a destiny to honor. There are worlds beyond his, the likes of which he had never imagined. But the revelation comes with a price: the Green Lantern Corporation has fallen, wiped out by relentless killing machines known as Manhunters.
Paradise Lost / Wonder Woman: Earth One
James Gunn has described this project as a kind of Game of Thrones, since this series will take place years before the birth of Wonder Woman on Paradise Island, which can be inspired by various titles, but what we recommend you get is Wonder Woman : Earth One.
For millennia, the Amazons of Paradise Island have created a prosperous society far from the plague of man. One resident, however, is dissatisfied with this isolated life: Diana, Princess of the Amazons, knows there is more to this world and wishes to explore it, though her goal is only thwarted by her protective mother, Hippolyta.
The Authority / StormWatch
One of the groups making their media debut within the DC Universe is The Authority, a cynical and brutally pragmatic superhero team.
These antiheroes first arrived in 1999’s The Authority, a title from writer Warren Ellis and artist Bryan Hitch. Some of the team members and concepts originated during Ellis’ run on Stormwatch.
Swamp Thing / The Saga of Swamp Thing
Horror will come to the DC Universe with Swamp Thing, in a film that will explore the origins of the ecological hero, created in the pages of House of Secrets #92 (1971), directed by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Alex Olsen, a scientist who was working on a biorestorative formula when he was attacked by thieves in his laboratory.
One of the memorable stages of Swamp Thing was the one written by the British Alan Moore, who exploited the humanity of the hero and the horror of his heroism.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
The Girl of Steel will return to the big screen with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a story far removed from the image of the heroine created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is a story written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely, where the first years of the heroine are narrated, who, unlike her cousin Kal-El, witnesses death and horror in recent years. of Krypton.
This story has not yet arrived in its Spanish version, but don’t worry, keep an eye on our social networks and official site, as we will announce when this story will arrive.
