On January 23, the nominees for the award were announced. golden raspberry (also known as Razzies) to the worst of cinema, but A day later, numerous criticisms arose for including the young Ryan Kiera Armstrong (star of the horror film “Firestarter”) in the list of Worst Actress.
Because of this -since Strong was only 11 years old when that movie was filmed- the organizers of the delivery have decided to withdraw the nomination and establish a new policy regarding the age of the actors and actresses included in their categories: from now on they must all be over 18 years of age.
John Wilson, one of the founders of the Razzie, issued a statement a Variety in which he expresses the following: “Sometimes, you do things without thinking. And then you’re singled out for it. So you get it. That is why they were created Razzies first. The recent valid criticism of the choice of 11-year-old Armstrong as a nominee for one of our awards made us pay attention to how insensitive we have been in this case. As a result, we have removed Armstrong’s name from the final ballot our members will cast next month…We also believe Ms Armstrong is owed a public apologyand we wish to say that we are sorry for any harm you have experienced as a result of our elections.”
