In Argentina, a judge prohibited a food debtor from entering a soccer stadium until he paid off the economic debt he has with his son. In addition, he has been prevented from leaving the country and his driver’s license has been withdrawn.
The case has gone viral because more and more men are trying to flee their responsibilities, a situation that has gained relevance in the courts of Argentina and various parts of Latin America.
According to Argentine media, the Club Atlético Newell’s Old Boys fan owed 12 months of alimony to his 12-year-old son, but he did have enough money to pay for passes to a soccer game. This situation led the man in question to enter the country’s Registry of Alimony Debtors, which has very strict rules and sanctions.
The prohibition of the entry of the accused to the Newell’s Old Boys soccer stadium in Rosario may be ordered, giving notice to the respective Club, the Rosario police authority and the National Directorate of Security in Soccer Shows to include the accused in the list of persons who they are restricted from entering football games as ordered, until full payment of the alimony owed is made.

According to Judge Andrea Mariel Brunetti of Santa Fe, the ex-wife of the now debtor asked the court for her ex to give her part of his income as alimony, but the subject never complied with his obligations and this has had serious consequences, since not only did he lose the opportunity to see his favorite soccer team, but he has also been banned from leaving the country and his driver’s license has been revoked.
It is not about going where it hurts the most, but there are particularities that, to enforce the situation sometimes, there is no other way.

In Mexico, work is already underway to create a National Registry of Alimony Obligations in which the names of the debtors or delinquents of alimony will be made public. This in order to protect the rights of children in the country.
Those who are in said registry will not be able to obtain their driver’s license, passport or any other travel identity document. Judges or magistrates may not participate as candidates for popularly elected positions either, and they will be disqualified from carrying out procedures before notaries for the purchase and sale of real estate. In addition, in case they want to get married, they must present a certificate of non-registration in marriage applications or the wedding cannot take place.
