prince harry could not arrive in time to personally say goodbye to Isabel II last Thursday, when the long-lived monarch passed away in her private apartments at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, at the age of 96. The next day, when she left the imposing fortress located in the Highlands of the country, After spending the whole night watching over the monarch’s lifeless body, the Duke of Sussex was caught on camera visibly dejected.
That sadness impregnates a good part of the text that the husband of Meghan Markle to pay tribute to his longed-for grandmother, through the foundation’s website Archwell, created by the couple after their departure from the first line of monarchical representation. The Duke underlined on several occasions the gratitude felt by the citizensand of course himself, for the more than 70 years of unwavering public service carried out by the head of state, erected for decades as the great “compass” of the nation.
“She was admired and respected worldwide. Her dignity and her grace remained unchanged throughout her life and are now her legacy.”Harry wrote in a moving publication that, in addition, endorses the words pronounced by Isabel II in April 2021, regarding the death of her husband, Philip of Edinburgh: “Life, of course, consists of final farewells as well as first meetings,” the prince recalled before reiterating his gratitude and entering a much more emotional and personal field.
“Grandma, although this final farewell brings us much sadness, I will be eternally grateful to you for our first encounters. From my childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as Commander-in-Chief, to that first time you met my beloved wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren. I treasure those moments shared with you and others just as special. We already miss you dearly, not just us, but the whole world,” reads the most endearing excerpt from Harry’s letter.
