Before becoming Dr. Fate and James Bond, Pierce Brosnan competed to become Batman in 1989, but a joke by the Irishman killed the opportunity
Many job opportunities can be won and lost by simple details that may seem silly, and that was experienced by Pierce Brosnan, who in 1988 auditioned for the role of Bruce Wayne / Batman in Tim Burton’s film, and a joke prevented him from becoming The dark knight.

Recall that in 1988 Tim Burton chose Michael Keaton to play Batman, in a decision that was controversial at the time, but before Keaton took on the role of the Dark Knight, Pierce Brosnan’s name was on the radar.
The Irishman auditioned for Tim Burto, but as he recounted in his appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the same actor sabotaged his casting for a joke.
“I went for Batman back around the time Tim Burton was doing it… Obviously I didn’t get the job… I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton. I said, ‘You know, I can’t understand any man who would wear his underpants outside of his pants.’ But there you have it, the best man (Michael Keaton) got the job”
More than 35 years later, where Brosnan gained international fame with the James Bond saga, the actor managed to enter the DC Universe where he will play archaeologist Kent Nelson, better known as Doctor Fate.
