On the 24th anniversary of the case, there are two streaming platforms that approach the case from different points of view: on the one hand, ViX debuts The show, chronicle of a murder; on your own, Prime Video will also do the same with a production that will feature performances by Belinda, Diego Boneta and Luis Gerardo Mendez. Who ordered Paco Stanley to be killed?
This is the question that all of Mexico has been asking since that fateful date when the driver was riddled with bullets outside a famous taco shop in the south of CDMX. The investigation process was plagued by irregularities that clouded the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office at that time. Some of Stanley’s closest co-workers, such as Mario Bezares and Paola Durante, remained in prison for more than a year for being suspected. There are versions that suggest that Paco was involved with drug traffickers, who would have ordered his murder.
Did Paco know they were going to kill him?
There are rumors that the driver knew he would be assassinated sooner or later. The last recorded program of him shows him nervous, even sweating profusely. Some news suggests that the driver received death threats months before what happened, so it is difficult to specify that he knew the exact date of his death.
Did he really have ties to the drug dealer?
After his death, rumors began to circulate that Stanley was a cocaine user and distributor and had ties to Mexican drug traffickers. Media such as El Universal Gráfico investigated whether there were links between the driver and drug traffickers such as Amado Carrillo (‘The Lord of the Skies’) and Ismael ‘el Mayo’ Zambada, although nothing was ever proven.

The Show: Chronicle of a Murder is directed by the Mexican reporter, writer and filmmaker Diego Enrique Osorno. The production is by Carlos Sosa (sanctorum), while the investigative team includes journalists Luis Mendoza Ovando, Salma Abo Harp, Meño Larios and Paola Odiardi.
Among the personalities that appear in the docuseries are the presidents of the most important television stations in Mexico, Emilio Azcarraga Jean (Televisa), and Ricardo Salinas Pliego (TV Aztec). They also appear Cuauhtemoc Cardenaswho was Head of Government of the Federal District at the time of the murder, and Mario Bezarespartner of the driver in programs like Suck it up! and that he was designated as an alleged accomplice to the homicide.
The project also has the participation of Brenda Bezares, Paola Durante, Álvaro Cueva, Alfredo Adame, Benito Castro, Verónica Macías, Luis de Alba, Jorge Garralda, Lilly Téllez, Chumel Torres and Sofía Niño de Rivera.
