The flagship lot of this auction, which spanned two days and was curated by Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), was presented along with 1,300 other movie props, from Robert De Niro’s boxing gloves to Wild bullto the hammer of Thor.
ET has been one of the most famous characters in pop culture and science fiction since the release of the hit movie in 1982.
Almost all of the brown doll is articulated: his beady eyes, his long neck and, of course, his glowing finger that shines in the movie before saying his cult phrase. ET calls home.
A model of the alien was also auctioned for $125,000, while one of the motorcycles used in the final scene sold for $115,000.
Other emblematic objects of the seventh art were offered and reached high bids, such as the stick with which Charlton Heston parted the Red Sea in two in “The Ten Commandments”‘ (448 thousand dollars) and Harry Potter’s Nimbus 2000 broom (128 thousand Dollars).
