It is logical that in Hollywood they do not stop making sequels, prequels or spin-offs of those films that sweep the box office, but things change when we talk about big failures. That’s what happened 9 years ago with ‘RIPD Deadly Police Department’, but it hasn’t been enough to stop Universal from moving forward ‘RIPD 2: Rise of the Damned’a prequel of which we can already see its trailer.
To put it in perspective, ‘RIPD Deadly Police Department’ had losses that shot up to 92 million dollars, even higher than what Warner had had shortly before with ‘Green Lantern’ -there the losses were 75 million-. That led to the race Ryan Reynoldsone of its great protagonists, staggered and did not recover until destroying everything thanks to ‘Deadpool’.
As expected, there is no trace of the protagonist of ‘The Adam Project’ here, since we are facing a sequel created specifically for the domestic market with Jeffrey Donovan. Richard Fleeshman, Jake Choi, Kerry Knuppe, and Stephanie Levi-John.
The story of the film revolves around Sheriff Roy Pulsipher, a new agent of the deadly police department who undertakes a mission to stop the a dangerous demon opens a portal to the underworld.
Let us remember that this improbable franchise has its origin in the comic of Peter M Lenkov published for the first time in 1999. A separate question is that its prequel is going to use something from there beyond four generic ideas…
As I pointed out before, ‘RIPD 2: Rise of the Damned’ is intended for the home market, so it will be released directly on blu-ray and digital services next November 15. If you have been wanting more, on the Universal website you can see its first 8 minutes for free.
