The quaint Fawlty Hotel is preparing to reopen its doors. The production company Castle Rock has announced that it has launched a new installment of ‘Fawlty Towers‘ (also known in Spain as ‘Hotel Fawlty’), a comedy considered one of the best series in history (of course on the British side).
The project comes from the same john cleeseco-creator (along with Connie Booth) and star of the original series, which ran for two seasons between 1975 and 1979. Cleese co-writes this return with his daughter camilla cleesewith the production of Matthew George, Rob Reiner Michele Reiner and Derrick Rossi.
This new ‘Fawlty Towers’ will bring back the cynical and nutty past Basil Fawlty (Cleese) as he navigates the modern world. The series will revolve around her relationship with her newly discovered daughter, with whom she will try to manage a boutique hotel.

In the words of John Cleese:
“What I like about Matt is that, unlike many producers, he really ‘gets’ the creative process. When we met, he offered me an excellent first idea. So Matt, my daughter Camila and I had one of the best brainstorming sessions I can remember. By dessert time we had such a great overall concept that, a few days later, it won the approval of Rob and Michele Reiner. Camilla and I are really looking forward to expanding it into a series.”
Beyond this general concept and that they are in the development phase, the details about this new ‘Fawlty Towers’ are quite scarce. The original series, which can be seen in Spain through Filmin, took us through the adventures of Basil and his wife Sybill (Prunella Scales) to keep the hotel they own afloat.
