Through a statement signed by Francisco Ramos, VP of Latin American Content of the entertainment company, he has announced the start of production of this adaptation within the framework of the 40th anniversary of the Nobel Prize won by the Colombian living in Mexico City. .
“On October 21, 1982, Gabriel García Márquez received a telephone call from Paris in which he was informed of the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Today, forty years later, we are honored to inform Colombia, and the world, of the start of construction of the universe in which the series based on the Nobel Prize magnum opus will take place, One Hundred Years of Solitude. Just over three years ago we announced our agreement with the García Márquez family to carry out the first audiovisual production of this work, and today we are ready to share our plans and we do so with pride, ambition and, above all, great sense of commitment and responsibility”, details the statement.
For its first season it will have two directors: Alex Garcia Lopez Y Laura Moore. Alex has been responsible for directing series such as The Witcher and before he was responsible for this work in the series Utopia, winner in 2014 of an International Emmy for best drama series; Laura, for her part, was director of kill jesus Y The Kings of the worlda film that has been selected to represent Colombia at the 2023 Academy Awards, among other productions made in the South American nation.
The script will be in charge of Joseph Rivera, recognized for his work in films such as Motorcycle Diaries Y The 33.
