The film that opens in Spain on April 14 only in theaters, proposes a reimagining of Renfield, Dracula’s personal assistant, who after several centuries of hard work will try to break the toxic and dependent relationship he has with his boss, the vampire most narcissistic ever an approach to the character reminiscent of Nandor’s in the series ‘What we do in the shadows’which is actually a code for Vlad the impaler, the real-life Dracula, and who also does the same with his assistant Guillermo.
In the official synopsis of ‘Renfield’:
Evil wouldn’t be eternal without a little help. In this monstrous modern tale of Dracula’s faithful sidekick, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Roadthe saga X Men) plays Renfield, Dracula’s (Nicolas Cage) tortured assistant. Renfield is forced to procure victims for his master and do whatever he orders, no matter how immoral. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to find out if there is life beyond the long shadow of the Prince of Darkness. The problem? That he doesn’t know how to break that dependency relationship.
