Netflix has kicked off day 2 of “Geked Week” with the first trailer for ‘Troll’, a monster movie in Norway that focuses on a huge ancient troll that has been awakened in the middle of the mountain and that is very reminiscent of those that appeared in André Øvredal’s ‘Troll hunter’ (2010), only that it changes the mockumentary style of that one for traditional action and an overwhelming scale.
Something wakes up in the mountains
In the official synopsis from ‘Troll’:
“Something in the mountain of Dovre (Norway) is waking up. From its darkest depths a gigantic creature awakens after being trapped for thousands of years. Destroying everything in its path, the creature quickly approaches Norway’s capital, with the townspeople scrambling to stop something they thought only existed in Norwegian folklore. A motley crew of heroes must band together to try and stop it from wreak deadly havoc.”
Norwegian director Roar Uthaug, director of ‘The Wave’ and the reboot of ‘Tomb Raider’ will return to catastrophic cinema in ‘Troll’, with a cast that includes Ine Marie Wilmann, Mads Sjogard Pettersen, Gard B. Eidsvold Netflix will release in 2022.
Speaking with The Wrap, the director commented that:
“Troll is an idea that I’ve been developing somewhere in my mind for the last twenty years. I’ll finally be able to bring it to fruition thanks to the ambitious and enthusiastic folks at Netflix and Motion Blur.
