We have already known for several months that Netflix was on its way to betraying one of its maxims with which it broke into the market: sharing accounts. If at the time he even promoted it, we are getting closer to the moment when he can no longer do so. And they have just released a functionality that goes that way.
And it is that, before this inevitable future, from Netflix have inaugurated a functionality called “Transfer profile” which serves, as you can imagine, so that the move from your profile to your next user account is as painless as possible.
How Transfer Profiles works
This function will allow us to transfer the information of the account profile, including our list, the series and movies we have seen, what is pending and everything to ensure fluidity during the change of account and not miss this year’s jewels in cinema and television.
In order to do so, we will first have to receive an email advising that the function is available to us. Then we go to Netflix, put the mouse on our avatar and we choose the option “Transfer profile” in the drop-down.
The next step is to select the profile to transfer and set up our new subscription, entering an email and a new password. From there, follow the instructions so that, in the end, you already have your new account without having lost the data of your previous profile.
Although it is a feature that is quite useful (it is true that changing accounts does not necessarily imply stopping sharing the new account) the company does not stitch without thread and it is a strategic move in the reformulation of the business model of the platform.
A remodeling that also goes through a plan with announcements that will arrive next November and with the possibility that the sharing of accounts will be “penalized” as it happens in Latin American countries.
