It’s time to put on our leather gear and travel back to the Middle Ages to prepare for season 2 of ‘Vikings: Valhalla’, the spin-off of the hit History Channel series. Netflix has revealed that it will premiere these new episodes on January 12, 2023.
Along with the announcement, we have some first images in which we can see the leading trio again —Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter and Harald Sigurdsson— and we are learning what awaits them in this second installment of their adventures.
departure from scandinavia

The consequences of the tragic fall of Kattegat in the first season will be the starting point for this season 2, with the exploration of how this event has altered the dreams and destinies of the protagonists. Our trio will suddenly see being fugitives in scandinavia and forced to test their courage.

In the words of Jeb Stuart, creator of the series, the idea of these chapters is to get their characters out of Scandinavia and their comfort zone:
“The whole concept of season 2 is that we take these three heroes who are in Scandinavia and push them out of their comfort zones. For Harald and Leif it’s a road trip: it’s Thelma and Louise on the Dnieper River. The two will begin this incredible adventure. Freydís will go to Pomerania, which is a very difficult environment.”

“Season 2 will show that sometimes when you hang out with people who are just like you, eat like you, talk like you, you will still run into problems. So you need to add fuel to the fire, which is what I think the Vikings did. And they did it fantastically, I think better than any other culture. So we assemble this diverse group of Russian nobles, Muslim astronomers and hustlers and they all head out of Novgorod.”

Bradley James like Harekr, Hayat Kamille like Mariam, Marcin Dorocinski as king Yaroslav the wise and Sofya Lebedeva as Elena are the main additions to the cast of season 2 of ‘Vikings: Valhalla’.

A cast that continues to count on Sam Corlett (Leif Eriksson), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis Eriksdotter), Leo Suter (Harald Sigurdsson)Bradley Freegard (King Padfoot), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Olaf Haraldsson), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), David Oakes (Earl Godwin), Pollyanna McIntosh (Queen Ælfgifu) and Soren Pilmark (Sweyn Forkbeard).
Season 2 of ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ will consist of eight 50-minute episodes each.
