Netflix just made official the renewal of ‘Heartstopper’ by two more seasons, thus clarifying all the doubts that there were about its continuity. And it is that the first had not been a great audience success, which had triggered rumors about a possible cancellation. For my part, I think it’s one of the best series so far this year, so I’m very happy about its continuity.
Why there were doubts about his future
This adaptation of the comics of Alice Osseman premiered on Netflix last on Netflix last April 22. At first, it was striking that its audience data was never dazzling, since it never went beyond the fifth position among the most watched series in English on the platform worldwide.
In return, ‘Heartstopper’ did a lot of noise in social networks and it was common to find messages both speaking well of the series and asking Netflix to continue with it. I suspect that this, together with the fact that it should not be a very expensive series and that the platform is going through a time when it cannot afford more bad press, has been key to its renewal.
Starring Kit Connor and Joe Locke, the first season of ‘Heartstopper’ covered the first two comics and introduced some elements of the third. For now there are four published and the fifth is currently underway.
