Noah Baumbach returns with another movie for Netflix after ‘Marriage Story’ and ‘The Meyerowitz Stories’. The platform has finally shared a first preview of ‘Background noise’the new thing we can see from the director with Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig.
story of a family
‘Background noise’ (‘White Noise’) is the long-awaited new project by Noah Baumbach. The plot revolves around a family and its particular way of dealing with everyday conflicts and big questions about love, death and the search for happiness.
Netflix has released the first trailer for the long-awaited film, where we are given some glimpses of the peculiar family, as well as the striking characterization of the cast: with Adam Driver (‘The House of Gucci’) and Greta Gerwig (‘Frances Ha’) in the lead, we will also have Don Cheadle (‘Iron Man 2’), Jodie Turner-Smith (‘Anne Boleyn’), Alessandro Nivola (‘The Great American Swindle’) and Andre 3000 (‘High Life’).
The movie adapts the homonymous novel by Don DeLillo (author of other books brought to the big screen such as ‘Cosmópolis’ and ‘Game 6’), published in 1985. At the time it was a great success and is considered a classic of postmodern literature.
Baumbach directs, writes and produces the film, four years after its last premiere (‘History of a marriage’ in 2019). We won’t have to wait long for his next project, since the director is also involved in the script for the version of ‘Barbie’ that Greta Gerwig (his creative and sentimental partner) is preparing.
‘Noise in the background’ will premiere next week at the Venice Film Festival and still does not have a release date in Spain (“very soon”, according to the trailer). Like other recent cases such as ‘It was the hand of God’, ‘The power of the dog’ or ‘The invisible agent’, the film will go through theaters before being released on the platform.
